About me
Following a career in communications, I studied at the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BCPC) for four years, where I achieved a level 6 advanced diploma in counselling. During this time, I also worked at the Low Cost Counselling Service and provided therapy to students at Bath Spa University.
I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (membership number 00980056). The BACP Register is a public record of counsellors and psychotherapists who meet or exceed the BACP's recommended quality standards. These standards cover training, supervision, continuing professional development and a contractual commitment to the BACP's Ethical Framework.
I have developed an integrated approach to counselling, with a focus on providing a safe and confidential space to explore deep-rooted emotions and life experiences. I offer genuine empathy and warmth, as well as curiosity and challenge, as I believe in the importance of our relationship to help you feel able to explore your personal challenges.
I work from a room in the centre of Bath, where I provide face-to-face counselling sessions in a cosy and warm space. I also have a select number of sessions available for clients who prefer to work online.
My Approach
My approach centres around self-discovery and the belief that you know yourself better than anyone. In weekly 50 minute sessions, I will work with you to help uncover that understanding, so that you can become aware of:
- your patterns of behaviour and thinking
- your feelings, even those that might feel unacceptable to you
- your past, including your early years
- your relationship with others and the world around you
My work focuses on fostering a genuine connection with you, the client, so that you feel safe and cared for. I believe in the power of empathy, active listening, and creating a non-judgmental space so that my clients can express themselves freely, truthfully and without fear.
Amongst other issues, I work with clients experiencing anxiety, numbness, stress, low moods, self-doubt, stuckness and difficulties in their relationships. While for some clients it's less clear, and they come to counselling because they simply have a sense of things not being right. Whatever the reason, we'll work through it together, to help you understand your experience and enable change.
