Maddie Chorlton Counselling

Have you've spent years caring for others, holding everything together, or simply getting through each day? From the outside you seem to be coping, but inside you feel anxious, overwhelmed or disconnected from yourself.

Whether you're navigating motherhood, relationship changes, career uncertainty or the transition into perimenopause or menopause, therapy can offer a space to understand what's happening and reconnect with the person beneath all the roles you fulfil.

I work with clients who have spent much of their lives looking after others while losing touch with themselves.

Together we'll gently explore not only what's happening in your life now, but also the experiences that have shaped the way you relate to yourself and those around you.

I have a particular interest in helping women understand how their early years continue to influence confidence, boundaries, relationships and emotional wellbeing in adulthood.

I focus on providing supportive and non-judgmental therapy that allows you to explore your thoughts, feelings and relationships in a place of safety.

What type of counselling do I offer?

With so many types of therapy out there, it’s easy to feel unsure about what’s right for you. As a humanistic integrative therapist, I draw on different counselling theories and approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you. There’s no one-size-fits-all in therapy, but we’ll work together in a way that honours your unique experiences and needs.

My role is to sit alongside you, helping you reconnect with that inner knowledge through curiosity, challenge and reflection so that you can grow, heal, and move forward.

What working together looks like

The relationship we build is at the heart of the work. I am dedicated to helping clients navigate life's challenges with empathy and understanding. Whether you're experiencing anxiety, struggling with stress, stuckness, hopelessness or low moods, together we can work towards emotional wellbeing and nurture personal growth.

In our weekly sessions, we’ll explore the parts of your life that feel the most difficult or confusing. Together, we’ll look at:

- patterns in your behaviour and relationships

- your sense of self

- your feelings, even those that you keep hidden from others

- your early years and how this continues to shape your relationships, self-worth and emotional world today

Through this process you can begin to understand yourself more deeply and feel more grounded in your place in the world.

Above all, my aim is to offer a supportive and nurturing environment where meaningful change can unfold.
